Local Plan public meeting – Tuesday 18th October, Ightham Village Hall, 7.30pm – all welcome.
You may be aware that our local authority, Tonbridge & Malling Borough Council (TMBC) are required to rework the Local Plan that they submitted last year. The Local Plan is required by central government and sets out how each local authority will develop new housing, industry commerce, infrastructure, etc. over the next 10 to 15 years. As part of this process they issue a ‘Call For Sites’. This enables land owners to put forward any land, fields or woods that they consider could be used for the provision of housing or other buildings.
All sites put forward are evaluated against certain criteria and are either accepted or rejected. If accepted and included within the Local Plan, the sites may be built upon during the life of the plan.
There are a number of sites that have been put forward that fall within our parish and neighbouring parishes and it is important that everyone considers the practicalities and impact of each site.
We all have an opportunity to submit our comments and objections to each and every site but that opportunity is only there until 3rd November, after which the consultation period closes and the evaluation period commences. This issue is very important and your Parish Councillors are working closely with other parishes. We want to encourage everyone to become involved and take the time to submit their views to the proposed sites being included in the Local Plan and used for development and on the underlying principles and priorities of the Plan.
