Patrick Thomas – Chair
I am a retired police officer and, like a number of my colleagues who were elected in May 2011, this is the first time I have served as a Parish Councillor. I have to report that I am enjoying it immensely! Being married to Linda, the Parish Clerk, means that Council matters are never far from our minds. We moved to The Forge at the top of The Street in Plaxtol five years ago and made a conscious decision to get involved with Village activities from the start. As a result, I tread the boards with the Plaxtol Players as well as serving on the Committee, and am similarly on the Memorial Hall Committee. As a Friend of Plaxtol Church, I seem to spend most of my summers putting up marquees and serving teas and sticky buns. I have been closely involved with negotiations over the siting of the Village allotments. I have found it most rewarding working with my colleagues Rachel Chacon and Jane Denham in assisting our young people to establish a Plaxtol Youth Council and to gain over £2,000 in grants to develop facilities at the recreation ground. My hobbies are golf, walking our two dogs and eating out.
