Special Responsibilities: Finance & Governance; Open Spaces (Group Leader); Parish Enhancement & Community Wellbeing

I became a member of the Parish Council in October 2019. My family moved to Plaxtol over thirty-one years ago. My two sons attended the local primary school and still live in the village; Keith is an English teacher and Callum is a local tree surgeon. In becoming involved with Callum’s business I have developed an understanding of how much trees contribute not only to the environment but also to the assets of the local community, which is why I also volunteer as a Parish tree warden.

I retired from a career in retail banking in 2017 and now spend my time keeping bees and growing flowers both in my garden and at my allotment. I find that having retired I am in a position where I am able to give something back to the community and joining the Parish Council allows me to do this. Recently I have become much more aware of our impact on the environment and sustainability and would like to contribute to local schemes and initiatives to improve awareness of both our individual responsibilities and how we can make small changes that have a big impact.
